FUCK! I always forget about the awesome, yet obscure holidays. I won’t make the same mistake next year though, it’s now on my calendar. If you don’t know, I’m a pretty big Star Wars fan, so I am very disappointed in myself. Oh well, I guess I can celebrate on the 25th (The day star wars was first released in 1977).
You know what, I’m just going to declare May as Star Wars month. All good holidays need to last all month, and this is a huge one. George Lucas certainly created a masterpiece… although he is a nut-job.
Let’s talk about that. Star Wars is, in my opinion, one of the greatest sagas, ever told. A story of a boy who is forced to become a man. A story of two people falling in love through a really fucked up love triangle. A story of a rebellion. A story of overcoming the odds when they’re set against you. It’s pretty much every good story wrapped up into one. But then it was altered.
I did’t really mind the first time that Star Wars was altered, mostly because I was young then, but I certainly now appreciate the value of the original movies in their unaltered form. But then later came another HUGE change that kinda pissed me off. On the DVD re-release of Star Wars, watch the end of Return of the Jedi, and you’ll see this:
WTF George Lucas, Hayden Christensen!? I don’t remember him ever being there! Just because he’s the guy who plays Anakin Skywalker in your new trilogy doesn’t mean he needs to replace Sebastian Shaw! If you’re going to pull this shit and stay consistent by putting his face in Vader’s unmasking scene too! Oh, and while you’re at it, go ahead and replace all of Alec Guinness’ parts with Ewan McGregor too. They’re both dead anyway, so it’s not like there’s anything they can do about it.
Oh well, what’s done is done, and it’s still a great movie. Let’s just hope that Lucas doesn’t get anymore dumb ideas, and trys to bring Star Wars to 3D.
To celebrate, here’s a video of the original Star Wars story, told in Lego form.

I’m a day late, but oh well. May the 4th be with you.
