Facebook Rage
That’s right, admit it. You are an addict. I know I am, but not as much as I thought I was compared to many others. Be it Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or even MySpace, if you use them you are probably an addict. Not too long ago (a few hours ago at the time of writing this) Facebook was down, and chaos ensued.
Because of this 20 minute outage I was forced to create this Memer rage guy comic on my iPhone in about 5 seconds. The blogosphere went crazy, Twitter was enraged, and Facebook addicts everywhere committed seppuku. It was batshit insane during that short period of time and really all for nothing.
It all started around 6:00 PM on November 23rd, 2009. A time where many of us were just getting finished with our daily routines, and coming home for a nice quiet dinner with our families. But for some, this was not true. A quick look at the Internet to just take a look at what everyone was up to, it was quite obvious that Facebook was down. I just shrugged it off and said I’ll check later. But then all of a sudden, being the social medaphile that I am, I got a text message from my Twitter feeds saying that Facebook was defiantly down.
This made me think. For this to be news of any kind, people must really either:
A). Rely on Facebook for absolutely everything in their daily lives, or…
B). Have no lives what so ever, and be more addicted to social media than me.
At first I didn’t think this could be possible, but I then remembered how some other people I know constantly check their MySpace profile about every 10 minutes for the entire duration that they are awake that day.
Wow… wow.
Honestly people, can it not wait till after dinner? Have a real life. Include real people. I know it was a Monday, but we all have better things to do with our lives than just sit around and mess around on Facebook. And if what was getting to you at that time was that you couldn’t harvest your corn and slaughter your chickens in Farmville, then get some help.
Want to share your social media addiction? Do you remember this happening? What did you do? Leave a comment below. It would be interesting to see what everyone thinks about this situation.
